Supreme Ghost Report on Calendras Legacy and a Call to Play!

Even though Calendras Legacy is an FM, since I played in Supreme Ghost I decided to put it here instead of the main FM Ghost reports page. I may do that as well. But I also put it here because it would be nice to have a short Supreme Ghost run.

We haven't had a run of missions for Supreme since the mode was created. So tis time for a Supreme Ghost Challenge! I Challenge you all to try one or two missions. Everyone who is up for it, grab one or two of your choice and have at it. Can be anything, FM or OM! Post the Reports here, I for certain would like to read them.

We...ahem....Discuss Ghostly things so fervently on this forum that the Words do flat fly. I think what we need at the moment is some Action around here. ! Cuz as they say, Action Speaks Louder than Words. Grab a mission and Come Get Some!

Who is in?

Below I am going to post my Supreme Report on Calendras Legacy. I wrote it offline and maybe it will upload in three parts because there are three separate missions.

Hope you enjoy it!

Here goes!

Just Sneakin' Through!

Calendras Legacy

Version 1.a

Released April 1, 2002

A Supreme Ghost Run

A Hearty well wished thanks to Purah for creating another Classic and Supremely fun to play Thief mission pack. Please continue the story as I am in withdrawal for more after playing this one numerous times.

And I also wish the thank Purah's Team for their part in the series also: Thumper, Loanstar, Datoyminaytah, Saturnine, Lazarus, Phantom, Schwaa, and Darkangel. Nice work guys. You have my appreciation! Keep 'em coming!

This is the first part of three posts and the above thanks go for all three.

I Ghosted this mission pack when it first came out. But I got swamped with work and lost my notes and stats and never wrote a Ghost Report. Oh well! I had not played it in a while but I have played it many times. When I decided to attempt a Supreme Ghost I just jumped in. No replay to get familiar with the missions again. I played them all by Supreme Rules from beginning to end.

Loot: 196 of 1605

Locks Picked: 6

Pockets Picked: 7

There are no secrets in this mission

My Desktop Befuddles Me

Tricky Spots

1. The Guard that patrols the hallway to the Balcony up where you saw Calendra from below.

2. The Fort.

Impossible Spots

1. Way down below at the Skull with the Gemstone Eyes!

Onward

The one tough thing about this one is the rain which makes a lot of noise. Had to be real careful of comments in case I just could not hear them. I reloaded whenever there was the smigeon of a doubt in my mind whether I heard one or not. The lightning of course was a bit of trial but not much really. The hardest thing about it was that places indoors with a real small window, I would still light up when lightning struck. But it made for nice ambiance.

My general route was through the chimney at the beginning, then over to Calendras rooms with the bathtub, then to the place where you saw her on the balcony, through the attic, over to the fort, through the sewers from outside to the meeting with Basso, and then down below followed by going to the Inn and to bed. I stopped here n there to get what loot I could.

I thought the chimney might be a bust right off as there is a fire in there and I could not douse it. But it doesn't burn so I was pleased. I kept the books in there and took them back later. The door key like most in these missions disappear when used which I just love. Don't have to take them back.

The Guard that patrols the hallway to the Balcony up where you saw Calendra from below

I wanted the ring that is placed on the balcony down the hall where this Black Clad Guard patrols. And the floor in the bedroom is noisy. Coming in from below I snagged the key and went up the stairs and opened the door. This guard comes through the hall door, walks over near the openable window, back over and through the hall door, down the hall towards the balcony, turns at the end and goes back towards the door and then turns away from the door at an angle and pauses for a good while. He was there long enough for me to creep into the bedroom and over to the door. I opened the door and slid in behind him. Could not get by as he was centered in the hall and there was no room to go by. So I sat there with my finger poised above the right slide key. When he started his patrol again he abruptly turned and headed for the door and I slid right by him. I went down the hall and crouched right in a nook by the balcony and got the ring. He came back in and down the hall and turned, went back for the door and paused again, He is turned at an angle so it is possible to creep down the hall right too him and he won't see you. However, the lightning nailed me a few times while crouched by the balcony when he patrolled by. I got comments. So I had to alter when I entered that area to avoid it.

Now I creeped down the hall and up to him but could not get by to go back out the door and into the bedroom. And I could not wait for him to turn and follow him into the bedroom because there is nowhere to hide that he either won't see you or bump you in there. Seemed to be a Bust, didn't need the loot anyway so I could have avoided the whole area. But I wanted it. So I went back to the balcony shadow and peeked at him around the corner for a few cycles to see what he did. Well he is sort of random. He does not stop in the exact place in the hall all the time. Let me clarify that, he stops in the same general location but he is not always in the center of the hall. Sometimes he is closer to one wall or the other. I waited until he was closer to the wall in front of him when he stops. Then I crept down the hall and was able to walk right past him. Getting out the door is a bit tricky because it opens into you. Had to get on the other side of it and was wondering if he would see me. He didn't! I was out and throught the window and into the attic.

The Fort

I went out the attic window and dropped onto the barrel below. Then I jumped up from the barrel and closed the attic window. Then I went for the Fort. Had to be careful of the guard at the end of the alley there. The rain was noisy and I wanted to be sure. I went in the left door first and got the loot. Then I went in the right door and to the jail cells. The guard at the end of the hall there is snoring away while on duty. There is a coin in a cell I wanted to I took his keys from the floor, opened the cell, and got the coin. Putting the flipping keys back down was another one of those, I don't get it, things. The cells doors make a sound at least 150 decibles louder than dropping a key ring. But he doesn't alert from the cell doors at all. But drop that key ring near him and that teensie little clink will have him in a wholesale fit of wide awake hunting you down. Well this has been discussed before in other places. Is just something the game does and has nothing to do with anything else. Drop a key where you got it, on a patrol path, in a logical nearby location, or other logical spot such as a guard or security station etc. I could have avoided this whole area also and there was no loot amount to get in Objectives. But I wanted to play with it. I could drop the key dwon the hallway a bit from him which was probably fine. And I could drop it a bit closer if I leaned in and looked sort of down. It would land on end and fall over making a bit less sound. But nothing I could do would get the key back beside him. Around the corner by the stairs is a chair that has a Fort Key laying on it. That is a logical place. I ended up leaving it there for that reason.

The guards upstairs must be on random patrol and they turn lights on and off. If I would reload a save while up there, they would not do the same thing or always go the same way. Was like playing in real time. I worked mostly from on top of the beams over the stairs. When the guard would finally turn off the light in the sleeping area I would head in there. Was a trial at times because guards going one way would be going another. When I finally got over to the safe office at the end of the sleeping quarters I had to get in there fast because there is some kind of welcome zone that sends and archer in there. I moved and hid behind the statue and then did the safe. When the archer came back I followed him out and got behind him in the circular room to get the loot there. He does not patrol back to the office unless you are in there. So I waited til his back was turned and made my way out. The Fort in general was tricky because of the randomness and the lightnight which lit you up at times.

I did not go to the sewers from the Fort Jail Cell. I locked all the doors and then went into the sewers through the hatch that is by the sloping road to the gate near where Basso is. I locked the Fort doors this way, the far door I just relocked with the key. The door to the cells area I locked with the key and it started to close. I quickly cleared inventory and used the door and it opened back up but was still locked. I put the key back and then I went out the door and closed it and it was locked when it closed.

Basso

Nothing to really say here. I went to the meeting and turned up the sound REAL loud to listen for any comments obscured by the rain. Got none. Guess it is OK for Garrett to be there cuz he is fairly well lit up but then he is also a bit away from the AI and I was creeping. And the one guard is occupied with the prctice dummy.

Down Below Yo Ho! The Skull with the Gemstone Eyes

There is no objective to go here either but I wanted to know. Looks doable to me.

Supreme Ghost Rule 9. No Triggering of Traps that cause Alerts or leave evidence of a Thief’s passage.

The Web Trap I would probably call a Bust because it is tripped and the webs may be evidence. But you don't have to trip it so it is avoidable. The fireball that shoots down the hall after you get the second key from the chest seems to be a welcome zone kind of thing. No one hears it that I know of. But all the above is moot and no reason to apply the Rules to my play because of the Skull Room. That Skull to me is an AI and if it floated I was Busted. But I flat Smoked that room Supremely every time I went in. Crept in with quiet abandon and snatched the eyes from the Skull and all the loot and made my way to the secret Rock. Not a peep from Old Skull Face! I used the shroom and the trouble started. I had problems in that room back when even when I was Holy Water Arrowing the Skull. This time when I clicked the Rock often I was kicked right back to the desktop. If I wasn't kicked, when I turned towards the tomb there I was again often kicked back to the desktop. If that didn't punt me when I made any move towards the tomb I was punted. If I even raised a Blackjack and swung it through the air I was punted. After and evening and a morning of reloads and reboots I decided to forgo the area. Maybe it is my machine or some unkown trouble. But I really would like to play that area and know if it all can be Supremed by the Rules down there. I had a boatload of loot.

So I just made my way to the Inn and ended the mission. Yes, I put the room key back on the ladies table and locked myself in my room. Bet you can guess how I locked myself in.

Midnight in Murkbell

Supreme Ghost: Failed

Ghost Thief Mode: Success

Perfect Thief Mode: Failed

Time: 4 hours 8 minutes 13 seconds

Loot: 4500 of 5230

Locks Picked: 14

Pockets Picked: 4 The Cathedral Balcony key which I never used and took back, the Meepwood extending Bridge key which disappeared upon use, and loot

Damages Given or Taken: 0

Bodies Discovered by Enemies: 2 ?

It always perplexes me about the bodies discovered. How does the Dark Engine come up with it? For myself in this mission, No One went down by me and I did not even pick up any bodies! I guess the Zombies or some such killed a guard and another one saw it and the game calculated it. Who knows. But tis not a Bust!

Deep in the Recesses of the Mind of Purah!

I have no idea what Purah was imbibing when he came up with this mission but lets form a pool and buy him some more. But if this is his natural state, let the guy run! HA!

So lets get down to it.

What Busted Supreme!

1. I got a comment from a guard near the exit door to the water canal by the Temple.

2. I had to turn off the Security to the Diamond in the Museum so I could take it without sounding the alarm and alerts.

3. I got a comment picking the lock to the upper gate while going for the Museum Invitation.

4. Something unexpected happened at the Meepwood Cemetary gates which caused me to have to do something that was a Supreme Bust. And I ain't telling what yet!

5. I got a Haunt sounding exhalation from The Cardinal when I went into his Lair below.

6. I could not place the Cylix in the Forge without taking damage and when I was damaged I died, and when I screamed from the dying pain the guards alerted. So I had to do something else.

Interesting Spots

1. The Falstaff Wizards.

2. Outside and inside the Meepwood Cemetary Gates, oh YES!

My general path was to jump off the Balcony and into the water, up the canal and onto the switch platform in the canal there. I opened the underwater gate and then closed it because I was never going to need to go through there. I jumped and manteled the wall away from the Windmill and made my way over past the Museum, through Lara's Attic perch, through the Temple, into the canal for the Amulet setting, back to the Temple to replace the canal gate key, to the Museum, collected all but the Gem in the Windmill, collected some loot along the way in various places, went to listen to Mercedes get all *issy, to the Windmill for the Gem, then the Wizards to make an the Amulet, to Meepwood Cemetary TWICE, and to the forge!

Double Cross

Nobody and I mean NOBODY is gonna take this $25,000 off my dead corpse!

Yeah, Garret was somehow duped by the Cardinal who threatened to take the loot off his dead corpse, but all was not lost.

You can get into the Cathedral grounds by going through the Lara Croft attic, shooting a rope arrow into the sign on the Cathedral side of the attic, getting on the rope, climbing down a ways, and then removing it to drop to the top of the wall below. Then traverse the wall and drop onto the lamp post and too the ground in the Temple. Easy to do with no alerts. I could not find a way to get out through there. Could not get on the roof to jump back to the lamp post or wall. Could not get a rope to stick in a box so I could climb back out but maybe there is something that can be done. I couldn't find it this round. I never went in the balcony door of the Cathedral, I roped to the window. All the loot in and around the Cathedral was mine except for the stuff that was inside near the front doors on the Cardinals bedroom side. Could not get there with Guards without a comment.

Was easy getting out of the Cardinals room after the double cross. The secret panel was already opened and I just hit the switch again and had time to jump in there before it closed. Where I was Busted was the stationary guard standing not far from the door to the room with the hole in the wall to the canal. I could not for the life of me creep by or jump or run by him anywhere in his view even at distance without a comment. There's quite a bit of light near and away from the Temple there. I could find no other way than by him either. I went all around the Cathedral even by the front doors area to try and find another way to that door. Busted! So be it! I went out that door and into the canal.

I had forgotten the Canal Key and had to go back to the Cathedral to get it, then get the Amulet setting, lock the canal gate back up, and go back to the Cathedral to put the key back.

The Museum

A Toast to NightWalker and Old Man!

This one has been gone over in posts before so I won't hit it much. I got Busted picking the lock to get the invite. If that had been my only Bust I could have waited until the Zombies were out or even tried to Supreme it without the Invite. Woulda been tough. The hardest thing was getting the upper gate key off the guard inside the Museum without alerting him. And he and the female guard were on random patrol it seems. So I hid in the upper elevator until he finally came by, and took it. Up the elevator I used the creep key all the way over that tile floor coming and going. Took some big time too. I used NightWalkers approach as presented to me by Old Man to getting by the vault security beams with no moss. Just slid by the end of the horizontal one coming and going. No Fuss No Muss! Nice Trick Guys! Then back down the elevator and got the Diamond. Took the painting there and opened the window and jumped in the sill. Then I crept out as far as I could get. Using the window I dropped out at the same time. The window closed and I took no damage. The Museum was cleaned out without a hitch. Last thing I did was take the nifty gadget for seeing the security beams, back to the shed I found it in.

Hey Man, Sumthins Eatin' Me Here!

The Gemstone Relay Race with One Contestant!

I could not get the Gem in the Windmill without a comment for some blinking reason. Oh, I could get in there just fine. It was the getting out that got me. To be free of a comment I had to have the guard to my left looking towards the canal and the guard on my right looking away while I made a slow move around a door jamb. But the guard on the right was turning in place randomly and everytime I went he either commented or was alerted flat out. Is hard to get in, could get in but not out the same way with the same guards. But I still think there is possibility there but is not needed. I saved that Gem for after the Zombies came out. Was a cake walk at that time.

But the Lich was something else. My hit points were disappearing when I had it, and some kind of fast too. I could not carry that thing very far before it started to Eat Me! And the Gem Eating me was Eating at me so to speak. I was not gonna be Eaten by a Carnivorous Demon Infested Gemstone that would be made into an Amulet that would get me places down the road and which I could sell to some Rich noble for $4,687,942.31! And of course then I could steal it back and sell it again over and over until I was the first Multi-Billionaire on the face of the planet. No Sir, I would not be Eaten, not even a nibbles worth! So I tossed it up in the air and wound up the Blackjack to clobber it for a line drive completely over to the Falstaff Wizards place and....................If you belive that I will sell ya the thing for $4,687,942.00 even!

So it was a Relay Roadrace with one contestant through town dodging AI all the way. I picked it up and ran to a shadow and dropped it, watched the AI, picked it up and dashed to the next shadow and dropped it, over and over all the way over to the Falstaff Wizards place where I hid it along with another Gem in the shadowed nook near the door. Was odd, I entered the canal at one place carrying the Lich and it instantly took off a hit point every time I went in. So I had to go another way. I don't remember it previously taking away hit points so fast. But I won the Relay Race and my Trophy was gonna be the Amulet!

A Note on a Gemstone: It seems I have read several places somewhere that the Door to the Gleaming Facet Gem Shop is sealed and unfrobbable after you give the Cylix to Alcandor! That has never been my experience. I find it sealed and unfrobbable only after the conversation with Mercedes!

The Conversation with Mercedes

Who Wins the Booby Prize?

I went back to the room to meet Mercedes. I had to set those Zombies off before I could get the final Gem Eye in the Windmill. So she comes out of the closet and gives me a lashing and then hands me the Meepwood Cemetary keys. There was nothing I really needed in my room but I picked up the Speed Potion and Inviso Potion because I thought I might have a need for them going into The Cardinals Lair. Not to imbibe mind you, but for something else which I will say later. But I did not use them for even that so I took them back to the room later and dropped them.

I stood there as Mercedes took the Long Meaningful pause and then asked me if I thought Lara Croft had a nicer backside than her. I didn't have the heart to tell her that when I saw Lara Croft it wasn't her backside I was looking at!

Then Mercedes struted out the door and started toasting everything she came across, the Lantern guard and a few Skeleton beasts along the way. I did not take her purse this time around and did not go into the Police Station. Would have had to use a Water Arrow to open the gate and even though it does not leave any visible evidence that I can see I just decided not to go over there.

The Beer Wizards

The Unwelcomed Guest downs one on the House!

I got the Gem from the Windmill on the way. Had to wait for one Haunt and a Pastel colored fast footin Demon thing wearing Ostentatious Designer Threads in shades of sorta Pink to Lavender and funky shoes. No big deal to get by him but I wondered just which side of town he lives on. I got to the Beer Wizards place by dropping into the canal near the wooden catwalk close to the Police Station and swimming around to a ledge I could mantel. From there I shot a Rope Arrow across the canal and into a wooden beam end that was sticking out just above the water line. I crossed the canal, mantled up, got my Rope and hid in the dark nook where I had hid the other Gems. There were a few beasties lurking about. Guess they had just wasted the guard there on the boardwalk and were looking for anything else they could find. I waited them out and then went in to see what the Beer Wizards had brewing.

I had to pick up the Lich and did not want to hold it longer than I had too. So I picked the Falstaff Wizards door lock first and then went for the Lich. I had to get in the central room fast and drop the thing, cuz I could see it was Eating on me again when I paused long and I don't want to get started on this Never Eating story again. I got in there and dropped it next to a column. Then I went and ripped off the Dranhg and went back down and behind a column.

An FYI Pause

When I opened the second door inside the Wizards place there had always been a Wizard standing in the sort of round room where the Dranhg is. I was really wondering if I would get the "An Unwelcome Guest" comment and have to circumvent it or be Busted. But the Wizard was not there! WhaaaaT......the hey? That one set me back a bit and I had to unravel it. Objectives did not show an OBJ for stealing the Dranhg! Hmmm! First thought was if I had really fouled up and was playing on the wrong skill. I had always played before on Hard or Expert. Couldn't possibly have been in Footpad skill. I checked! Nope, was in Garret/Expert. Then it dawned on me and I went back and restarted the game to check. Yup, in the store is a tip and if you take the tip, thats sets up the objective and puts the missing Wizard in place. In fact you do not have to even read the tip, just pull it up in inventory and the Ring a Ding new objective sound is given too you. While sitting in the shadow of that round room I pulled the Tip up in inventory and the Wizard appeared before my eyes. I found that REAL interesting. Can't buy anything in the Store at loadout and this Thief doesn't even go to the store so no one can identify him. Gave me a tad of edge on those Wizards without the first one being there. You can still steal the Dranhg without the Tip though.

End of FYI Pause and back to the Brew!

Before when I used moss to go in and out of there to place the parts of the soon to be Amulet, it was easy more or less. And I still could get in and out of there with no Moss but still got some comments which forced me to reload. I wanted something better. Seems the guy upstairs was only in big view when I was out of the Pentagram and he was across from me. Hmm! Thoughts occured! I crept out to the center of the thing while crouched and sat there. He walked all around his patrol up there and could not see me crouched in the center. And a lot of the time he was even out of view. So I leaned out and placed the goods without Ole Funky Face being the wiser. The only trip out was to get the Lich and quickly put it into place. Why I did it so quick in fact that the Lich had no time for a bite. Something odd happened then, before I even placed the Amulet setting in it's place, the Book appeared by itself in the place I should have put it. And it was glowing already. And for certain was not in my inventory anymore.Reloading saves yeilded the same thing. Oh well! I placed the setting anyway, picked up the book, and moved off into the perimeter shadows.

Bye Bye to the Big Eye in the Sky!

The best place I know to work from at this point is the column right behind the chest. I got behind it and backed all the way to the angled corner in the wall. Then I used the Book and Hocus Pocus my Race Trophy was in Focus. Out there floating in the center of the room above the floor it was and I was gonna get it. Another Beer Wizard had appeared over to my left and was looking around trying to figure out what happened. I crept up to the shadow behind the column in front of me. All the Beer Wizards look around for a bit and then go back on patrol. But the one who appeared to my left while searching would walk up to the left side of the column I was behind and each time would bump me and have me. So I got to the right side of the column and he would miss me on the left side and go on with his search. When he went off alert and walked by the same column on the right side to patrol, he bumped me every time even though there was a space between us. So I had to slide back n forth around the back of that column until he went by. He heads for the room where the Dranhg was and gets stuck on his buddy Beer Wizard who is in there looking towards the Amulet but a column is blocking his view from where I was. Maybe the reason they always get stuck on one another is because they had one Beer to many. They could be six over the line for all I know. But they do stick and I rushed in and snagged the Trophy and back behind the column. Shortly the two Beer Wizards unstick and go on patrol. When they went by me and their backs were to me I went for the ladder and up top. Up there I slid off the ladder and onto the floor.

When on that ladder looking out into the room, if you go around to the right the Big Eye in the Sky that has appeared will get a Missle Lock on you and begin launching. I went left creeping along the wall all the way over to where I could just see......ahem...... the Corona of the Beer Wizards Big Eye in the Sky! Then crouched while holding the creep key I went backwards until I made it well into the opening of the room above the room where the Dirk was. Then I crept over to the opening in the floor and edged about 2/3 the way around it. Twas an easy deal from here, just moved up on the opening until I sunk down like one leg dropped off the edge, like you do when going for a silent drop off. When the roving Beer Heads down below cycled off I dropped silently to the floor and exited the Brewery leaving the Falstaff and Corona far behind me!

Deputy Dawg and his Two Prone Zombies

Wonders Never Cease Outside the Meepwood Cemetary Gates!

Have At You!

Well I have played this mission a number of times. And when I got to the Meepwood Cemetary Gates I always found a dead guard and two roving Zombies. One ordinary Zombie and one youthful looking dressed in blue. Hmm, I wonder who killed the guard? But sometimes the game throws things at you. Sometimes all just isn't as it was before. Sometimes you don't like it and sometimes you do. Sometimes it is flat Awe inspiring. Sometimes you see it and just decide to go with it. This was one of those sometimes that got me and it set me on a course I could not refuse.

Way back when Mercedes lost the Booby Prize, the city was inundated with Evil Denizines of the nether regions brought forth by the nasty old Cardinal and his Ill gotten Cylix. The town citizens and Officers of the Law were dropping dead from the onslaught of Purah's living nightmare. The only living ones I know about were tucked safely behind doors, or over at the Police Station, or on a balcony above the street. On the street itself however, they had been overrun and done in by Hoards of Zombies, Haunts, Skeleton critters, and Pastel colored demons from the east side. But over by the Meepwood Cemetary Gates it was a whole different story. The Law was in Full Force at the Gates! When the Zombies Spawned over there, Mr. Blue Coat I am an Officer of the Law Deputy Dawg whipped out his sword and quick cut down two Zombies and dropped 'em like a pile of cordwood thereby single handedly saving the day and securing his position as THE Law of the Meepwood Gates.

Meanwhile Thief Sneak followed Mercedes out the door of his rented room and watched her smack down some baddies, then made his way to the Windmill for the Gem up there, went over to the Beer Wizards to collect his Race Trophy, went to the Market to steal the large purse of loot off the standing dead woman in the white dress, climbed the ladder, crossed the closeline, walked the ledge, dropped onto the overhang, timed all the evil critters below, dropped to the wooden boardwalk, picked the extending bridge key off the dead guard and ending up at the Meepwood Cemetary Gates was Dumbfounded at what he saw.

Deputy Dawg was dancing over and around the two Prone Zombies like some wild mad thing, chopping them with his sword. It was obvious that he was bound and determined that these Prone Undead things would never rise again. And he was talking too them too. About every third or fourth line was, "Have at You!" I hopped up on the ledge behind the light switch room, saved the game, and watched the guy in action for a long time. He was playing a serious game of Whack a Zombie and they moaned in pain every time he sliced.

Click here for a peek at Deputy Dawg in Action!

Getting around the two roving Zombies had not been too hard before, but getting around this Cop...well....maybe! After some long time of watching and marveling at the guy I thought, well, he is so distracted with the Zombies that I can just waltz on by and go in the gates. HA! Pretty bright out there and when I tried he let those Zombies lay and came for me. So I waited on him until he had danced all the way around the Zombies and had his back to me. Then I made a break for it. Wasn't easy, was Busted quite a few times. But I did finally make a run down the wall and straight for the barrel across from the gates and got by him. I saved the game in the shadowed corner there and suddenly saw that things were not working in my favor. I zoomed in on the gates.

Something I had heard! But I was distracted by the Officers Brave Magnificence and it did not sink in. His railing away at those Prone Zombies had drawn a bunch of nasties to the gates. A Zombie, a female Zombie, a Skeleton critter, and a Phantom Gas filled Ghost floating cloud thingy. They could not see him because the angle was wrong. But they could sure hear him. And they were in search mode because of the sound. I walked up to the gates, they saw me and were doing the shake the fist thing at me cuz they could not get too me. If I got to far along the gates, Deputy Dawg would come for me too. The perverbial Rock and a Hard Place.

I looked at the nasties through the gates, then I turned to look at Deputy Dawg, then back to the gates, and back to Deputy Dawg again. I noticed I was beginning to swell with Pride for my Boy in Blue. He had something, he was single handedly defending his territory and winning. His enemy was my enemy as long as I did not get too close to him! HA! This is what the game tossed at me, and I was going to go with it from here on, hook, line and sinker. No going wayyyyy back with reloads to see what would happen. I was commited! But no matter if I was completely Busted here and still went forward with the mission, if I opened those gates, the Undead were gonna stream through the gates and Kill My Brave Boy in Blue!

Pause for a Side Trip to Determine Destiny

Hmm, I looked at those gates and the nasties on the other side and then back at My Boy once again! Decision time, I just had to see what Buddy Roe Dawg was made of. So I opened the gates and here came 4 Dark things bent on homicide. No Problem! I whipped out the Amulet, pulled the trigger and blew them all too Smithereens including the 2 that Officer Dawg was hacking on. What did I get for thanks? My Pride and Joy Cop turned towards me and yelled, "Stand where you are, I am an Officer of the Law!" And here he came! Ingrate! HAHAHA LMAO! Time for some fun. I ran through the gates with Officer Dawg on my tail and headed for the house. I ran past a Zombie up there and turned to see Mr. Have at You stop and start hacking at him while shouting, "You'll be sorry soon!" I was impressed by his unflinching determination but was just getting started with reloads to see just how much Mettle My Comrade had.

I went running up by the cemetary near the house where the undead come zipping around the corner. I was running all over the place alerting them and evading them with Officer Dawg in tow. At one point I turned to see what he was up too. There were scores of unmentionable undead things chasing me and the Master of Copland was chasing them yelling all manners of things. At times he even dropped some to the ground. I got up near the secret door and around a corner and was hidden. When I looked around the nasties were going for My Dawg Buddy and he was charging headlong into it trying to take them all on at one time. He was doomed though and I wasn't gonna have any of that. So I ran into threats way noticing that the secret door had opened and those Brown Zombies from below were coming into the fray. It was suddenly a bit intense. So I pulled out my Pocket Daisy Cutter and dropped it out the bomb bay doors. The resulting explosion tore a devastating swath in the Undeads frontal assault. Well, actually it utterly obliterated the entire assault. I saw nothing standing anywhere and parts and pieces and bones and skulls and all manners of Undead particulars were raining like kindling from the skies.

Soldier Boy in Blue was completely unfazed and here he came after me again. Waha! I was about to duck around the corner by the opened secret door when I noticed that El Double Crossing Cardinal was up there on a tear trying too find out what was going on. Well to my amazement Deputy Dawg charged right in on him. Old Guts and Glory had no chance going toe to toe with the Big Guy like that, heck I would have no chance toe to toe with the Cardinal. But Deputy Dawg waded right on in and he got some good licks in too before he was dropped. He fell quite a few times and so did I. But I always had that load screen with which to reincarnate the guy and set him on another trial.

On another run after I had Amulet fried the works, there was one Zombie walking near the house and heading towards it. The Officer in Charge was right behind him trying to cut him down. The zombie was walking and when Cop Dawg slashed at him he was just out of range. Deputy Dawg would hop forward and slash again and the Zombie was just out of range. I laughed and laughed and watched this go on all the way down the side of the house and up onto the front porch behind the front porch railing. There the Zombie turned and My Boy nailed him. He dropped to the ground. The suddenly Zombie Dude got up and went back on patrol with Our Hero hot on his tail. Mr. Hop n Slash followed him swinging his sword across the lawn and over to the metal fence by a Tomb that the Undead can walk through. The Zombie was completely oblivious that Officer Blue was on his tail. When he went through the metal fence Office Dawg slashed and hit the fence making a metal sound. Then the Zombie turned and they had a sparing match through the metal fence. It went on a while and I sat there and giggled.

Just when I though the fun was about over a couple of new things occured. I had raced in there and alerted all of the critters that were streaming around from the side of the house and everywhere else. I went running around and around getting them all grouped. The Officer of the Law was right in the middle of it. I evaded and My Boy was single handedly up to his neck in Undead scat once again. Pocket Daisy Cutter, Big Bang, everything went to Smitherooties instantly with parts scattered far and wide. But one Undead female wearing a dress was just out of range in the cemetary among the tombstones. And she was moving in on Deputy Dawg. Dawg saw her and went on the attack. I laughed til I about fell over as he railed verbally at her and spent considerable energy trying to kill the dead woman. He actually did drop her and was dancing around her still chopping and railing "Have at You" at her. Suddenly I looked over at the front door of the house and here came the Rockin' Horse. Had forgotten about the Rockin' Horse. Guess all the commotion had disturbed it's playroom and it was a giggling kid out for adventure. Fun for me now! I ran and got My Boy to chase me and then headed for the Horse and got him to chase me. I turned around to see the Rockin' Horse after me and Dawg after the Horse. And he hit it making a sound like striking wood. The Rockin' Horse disappeared in a puff of smoke. Figured he would come after me now. Nope! He still saw something there that I couldn't and he danced around railing and slashing that invisible something with his sword. Too funny!

As my final acts of Determining Destiny I set up another two round match for Officer of the Law Lets Git 'Em Dawg and the Demon Possessed Kid on a Giggle Campaign Rockin' Horse. That would be a total of three rounds to determine how it would all fall.

Short Version and final Score: Deputy Dawg 2 - Rockin' Horse 1. My Boy Wins! Yeaaaaaaahhhhh!

Back from Pause for a Side Trip to Determine Destiny

I reloaded back to where I was perched in the shadow on the ledge behind the light switch room just across the bridge to Meepwood Cemetar. Office Dawg and I had raised Cane, H3ll and Zombie parts, and I had smiled and laughed with glee for around 2 hours in the Meepwood Cemetary. He had made his own Destiny and mine too. He had the stuff, the Right Stuff. I was quite Proud of Officer Dawg. So I made myself a side Objective. I decided that whether I had to totally Bust Supreme or Ghost or any other Mode of play known to Thiefdom before I finished this mission, My Bud Mr. Blue Coat I am an Officer of the Law Deputy Dawg would be left standing at mission end reguardless! I knew for his Brave Exploits that he would get a Chest full of Medals and a Key to the City, which I would steal from him later. Seemed like a Fair Deal to me. So I made a personal decision to initiate another Supreme Ghost Bust at that moment. I went over and picked the lock on the door to the light switch and turned out the lights to the gates!

Through the Meepwood Gates and into the Cellar

Saving Deputy Dawg!

It still was not easy getting by the Deputy. The Moon is bright and I was lit up out there somewhat and My Buddy was in Triple Red Zone Threat Alert Mode and would turn on me if I fouled up. So I had to wait again for him to dance all the way around the Zombies and have his back too me. From there it was still a bit of a trial getting by him and too the far end of the street. What having the lights out did for me was get me to the Gates and give a bit of hope at the Gates. The left hand gate I could not stand or crouch in front of, was bright. I could stand too the left side of it and was in deep shadow. There was a deep shadow right at the lock at the right gate. I stood to the left watching the Undead through the sort of window grate and leaned right for looking also. There were still 4 of them, the same 4 as before. They were in search mode randomly searching for where the disturbance was coming from. Sometimes they would get far enough up the Cemetary that they couldn't hear Dawg and would go off alert and back on patrol. But when they got near the Gates they would hear Officer Dawg again and go back on alert. Noticing that gave me an edge though they weren't going anywhere but close by. When they had their backs turned I lunged into the shadow by the lock. Nothing twitched.

I had found before that when I had reloaded a save that one of the Zombies that Officer Dawg was hacking on would stand up. I peeked around at Dawg and the Blue one was standing though effectively down. Well My Boy was not having that. He was furiously hacking at the Zombie like he was trying to fell a tree. And he felled it alright, but the Zombie didn't fall down, he fell up and was floating in the air above the other Zombie on the ground. Dawg kept a choppin'!

I had to open the Gates, get through the gates, and relock them from the inside or Deputy Dawg was done for. And I had to do it with no alerts myself. I knew when I opened the Gates I had to do it all fast or something or things would walk throught the gates looking for the sound. When all the undead were looking the other way I stood up and unlocked the Gates. The left hand Gate opened all the way, the right hand Gate which I was at opened only partially when I was standing which happens sometimes when you are against a door and open it. But this turned out to be a good thing. I did not have to go as far inside to get around the Gate and back to the lock from the inside. That gave me an edge. About that time a Zombie turned around and started walking for the Gates, he wasn't far away. So I crouched and quickly slid down the right gate and around it and back to the lock. I used the keys on it and the Gates closed and locked. The Zombie walked to the Gate, turned around and searched elsewhere. Deputy Dawg was safe for now.

I found a slight notch by the right hand window bars at the gate at snugged myself in there. Was safe for a few but not long, I could get bumped there and the Noxious Gas Filled floating Phantom could hit me and peel off a hit point. I could not go towards the house, to much light. I dashed across a short space of light into a shadow by some metal fencing. Was not good, nowhere to go from there. But I found that the deep shadow right inside the Gates held all the way down to the end at the wall. So I crept down the Gates away from the house all the way to the wall, up the wall and to a corner there. I was stopping and starting a bit to let those Undead pass. The biggest threat was the Phantom as he moves much faster than the others. When he was moving away I stood up and ran all the way around to the back of the cemetary to a shadowed corner by the secret door. From there I made my way around the back of the house where the Denizens come around the corner. I wondered how many of those would end up at the Gates and if I would have to go back through that way. Was an unknown! I went into the basement. Had to crouch to get over the door curb silently or the Zombies below would sound off at the noise. Then I went up for some loot. I did not go in the nursery to jump in the cradle or ride the Rockin' Horse. I outgrew such childish things long ago. Ha! Yeah, I know I missed some loot.

My Barbie Doll Sends Me!

Into the Cardinals Lair!

When I crept up into the hole in the floor in the basement and looked down, I knew I was in for some work to succeed. It is all lit up there, two torches nearby and a floor that clops if you jump to it. There is a wooden beam there that I found of no use. A Rope Arrow into it is far to slow a way to descend. It had to be a split second descent. Just dropping down even if crouched makes a clop and often peels off a hit point. Even if I could find no way, I had to find a way. There was no choice. I had no Water Arrows or Moss Arrows. I had never picked any up because I could not use them. Oh I had the Inviso and Speed for another purpose. But I never had intended to drink them. Before doing that I would have gone back by save or otherwise and got Arrows. That way I could at least have had a Ghost Success without a Chemical Assist.

When I had Ghosted this before I had doused the torches. Still was no good going down a Rope Arrow as it is too slow and the Zombies Patrol and also there is still a bit of light from the green pool and elsewhere. Right in the Cardinals view! Dropping to the floor took a hit point. But....there is a little footing around the base of the column down there and the only acceptable way I could find to get down without Rope and losing a hit point was to crouch and drop off towards the doused torch and land on that small footing. Doing that I lost no hit points and made no sound. Then I could slide around to the back of the column on that footing without bumping any Zombies. Problem was that when I stepped off that footing onto the floor back there, I made a loud clop like I was jumping off a building. I had no Moss Arrows at the time. Had used 3 in the Museum and don't remember where else or even how many I had had. So I dropped all my potions and inventory on the floor in front of me and they clipped just enough that I was able to walk off that footing onto the floor with no sound. That was what the current Inviso and Speed Potions were for. But Supreming it I could not drop in that direction to the footing with the lights on. Big Bust everytime, even the Cardinal went hunting. Had to come up with another route.

Most of the nasties in this mission walked around saying stuff like, "I am a child of Alcandor" or "Cylix Born" or some such. But looking down that hole, I heard a Zombie below say something that sounded Mysteriously like, "My Barbie Doll Sends Me!" Well.....to each his own. Personally I get off on her Vette!

When below looking from the Cardinals point of view it seems that the left side of the column in front of me was partially obscured from his view by another column. I began working on that avenue. I could not drop off from the left side of the hole to the left side of that column footing because I would hit the wooden beam on the way down and miss the footing and clop and even loose a hit point. If I crouched from the back right side of the hole in the floor and ran off aiming for the left of the column, when I arced through the air the Cardinal would tag me.

I tried a lot of angles but the best I could get was this: In front of me at the hole in the floor is a sort of square shaped opening that has only three sides. The open side is in front and is part of the big hole in the floor. I got on the left side of it and moved towards the column and let one foot drop off the side of it. This left edge of the hole points in the general direction I wanted to go. Then I timed the Zombies until they sounded like they were all walking away and crouch ran off the end of it towards the column angling left.

Click here for a shot of where I was set up to get down below!

I missed the beam and landed left of center of the column right on the footing. No Sound, lost no hit point. I could not pause and ran right off the left side of it, through the sheer drapery room divider and around to the far left darked corner of the room. I did not make the clop sound running off this time but I also did not pause on the little edge. That might have had something to do with it. One continuous motion. Honestly I think that Drapery Sheer was what saved me from a total Bust as it does obscure you a bit and I got behind it fast. But also the column I mentioned earlier blocks the Cardinals view for a space and as I moved where I was going it blocked more of the view. And the back of the room is much darker.

On several tries I got no Zombie comments but got the Haunt exhalation sound from the Cardinal when I landed at the column. Might be possible somehow with no alerts at all, maybe going off the far left edge of the hole with a leg off and finding a way to miss the beam. But the exhalation was the best I could get in many tries. So ultimately I took my next Supreme Bust and went on with the show.

I then went into the shadowed corner behind the Cardinal. As far as the Cardinal is concerned I could just stand up and run down the wall behind the Drapery sheer and right behind him. He never peeped. But the Zombies would comment at times because you are lit up on the move and the sheer doesn't block all the light even when stationary and crouched. So I timed them until they were looking away and ran behind the Cardinal. Was easy to get the Cylix from there.

Checking in on Officer Dawg

Enemy at the Gates

I had two choices now to get out. Up the stairs and out the secret door and back through Officer of the Law Dawg's Meepwood Gates. Or the other way down the long halls past 4 bad guys, one of which looks like a Cylix turned Keeper. Well I had to know so I went for the secret door. I could not get across that floor without an Exhalation from the Cardinal and getting across there with the lights on without getting anything from a Zombie was about nil. For Ghost Mode it was doable and this is one approach I used when I Ghosted before. But Supreme would not tolerate it. And I refused to take one or more Busts in a row without exploring just what I could come up with. But still I had to see how My Boy was doing holding back the Gates. So up I went ignoring the comments. You can open that secret door and close it and get out before the door is shut, just FYI! I made my way over to the Gates.

Well, it wasn't good at all over there. If a small Brigade had been there before now a whole Cylix Born Division was hunting the Gates. Hoards of them. I think about everything was there except the Rockin' Horse and maybe one Zombie. They were packed in thick hunting and one Haunt and others were standing there shaking their fists at the Gates. They had a bead on something and if I opened those Gates in this present state everything would have rushed through on the attack and overrun Soldier Dawg. Just creeping around there would have been iffy. There were so many that I would have been bumped even in shadow. A sad State of Affairs. Then I noticed something, what the Undead were seeing was My Boy in Blue right in front of the Gates Chawing Down on a Zombie with his sword. Not sure what happened to stand him up over there. Maybe my reloads cuz as I said before, each time they stood a Zombie up. I had done a lot of reloads trying to Supreme that Hole in the Floor and maybe the downed Zombies move each time. Not sure. It was an Undoable situation in any case. Had to go another way.

But even with a Full Blown Enemy Division at the Gates, My Officer Boy in Blue wasn't flinching. Outside the Gates the Law was still in Charge and he was splitting that Zombie like his own personal Practice Dummy!

I thought I had a Screen Save of The Enemy at the Gates but when I went to edit the pics I didn't find one. Wish I had one to show you; the Hoard there was unbelievable! Just use your imagination!

Mark my words though, Officer Dawg will live through this one whatever may come. I reloaded back to the shadow down behind the Cardinal.

This Skeleton Guard Can't See a Creepin' Thing!

I have the wherewithall, but do I have the time?

So it was through the long hallway and into the Cathedral, if I could get through there with no comments. I had gone this way before but got a comment from a Skeleton in a corner. But too, when just Ghosting I have been trained. I mostly know when a comment is coming and go right on by because it is No Bust! So this was my first try on that hall with no comments.

At the first part of the hall there is a patrolling Skeleton and a stationary Haunt who turns in place at an intersection of the hall. He pivots in place always turning right. Easy to get by them with torches lit. Hug the right side of the hall and go up about 4 or 5 feet back from the Haunt. The patrolling Skeleton walks down the other side of the hall and will not bump you coming or going. The trick is to wait until the Skeleton is coming and passes you and the Haunt turns away. There I moved out behind the Haunt and too his left side. While he was turning back around I just left strafed around him and got down that hallway and into the machinery nook around the corner. Next there is that patrolling guy that sorta looks like a Turned Keeper and another Skeleton. When the sorta Keeper turned, I followed him down the hall and around the corner and crept into another shadowed machinery nook. Just in the corner to the left was the Skeleton Guard. And he was stationary. The hall makes a right hand turn where he is. He is right in the corner but a bit away from it. He is standing facing at an angle so as to sort of see both sections of the hall. The other guy patrols from below the Cathedral all the way down the hall past the Skeleton and all the way back to where I had ducked into the first machinery nook. From the nook I was in now if I moved and blinked the gem or made noise, the Skeleton would have me. But there was something to try on him.

I sat there counting 1-1000, 2-1000 3-1000 ect when the roving guy passed my shadowed nook to time him. I had a time edge of about 20 seconds when he was going for the Cathedral area as opposed to back towards the Cardinals room. So when he passed me heading that way I crouched and using the creep key moved out into the hall. I hugged the left wall there and moved towards the corner behind the Lipless Bone Boy. Was slow and I wasn't counting, just moving. He didn't see me creeping and I got behind him. For a few steps I could move faster before I had to creep again. He just stood there like some Ancient Archaeological Museum Display. I made it all the way down the hall to where it turned left and had no idea where the other guy was. He could have rounded the corner the same time I did and we would bump heads. When I rounded that corner I saw him coming, maybe 15 feet away. I was shadowed but he was gonna bump me so I edged as fast as I could towards the other side at an angle towards the inside corner. I could not move fast or Skeleton Boy might possibly see my Gem blink and Cylix Keeper too. I got a bit of light on the Gem but got out of harms way and the Cylix Rover went right on by. Not a word from him or Old Lipless the Skeleton. A bit of rush there, nailed it on the first try.

And since I didn't have to go out the other way, twas lookin' good for Deputy Dawg too!

I went on down the hall and grabbed the gold, the key, and made my way up into the Cathedral for about the fourth time.

Pause for an FYI on the Cardinal Lair

After the conversation with Mercedes, a key that opens the door to the basement below the Cathedral appears on the desk in the small Library where the Canal Gate Key was. You can go that way into the Cardinals Lair and Supreme Ghost it in and out without a peep from anything. I did that on a side trip. When you get to the Cardinal it seems all those Brown Zombies are up the stairs on the other side. That gives an edge in getting by them with no alerts if you want to try the secret entrance escape. But I still got the Haunt sound from the Cardinal when going that way. Might be possible though if anyone is up to it. But still, I wanted that Hole in the Floor. It was just on my mind. If that had been my only Bust, I could have gone the other way and avoided it. But then I would not have met up with Officer Dawg either. And that is many ways made my day on this mission! Bet ya can't tell!

End of FYI

Supreme Ghosting Zombies in Real Time!

Come on guys, make up your minds which way you are going to go!

When I got to the small Library up in the Cathedral I ran into another tough spot. The only shadow worth using was at the right side of the arched opening into the Sanctuary. And all the Zombies were out in force. I think this FM Designer we all know and love had set them on random patrol. Which meant if you reloaded a save they would not go or do the same thing they did before. So I could not save at any appropriate moment to make a try of it. If I Busted and reloaded they might turn around instead of going through a door, or just reverse course for no real reason. That floor out there is real noisey. And the only shadow is under the side of the podium near the ramp. Was not good, I was bumped by a Zombie going up the stairs.Tried jumping onto the wooden benches and running across and jumping to the other one to get to the Cardinals bedroom. Well they look like wood but don't sound like it. Too noisy. So I simply had to go at it in Real Time. When the guys were through the door above or up front I would move as fast and quiet as I could across the floor and into the Cardinals bedroom. Can be done but it is a torqer. I did it twice. Then out the secret opening as before.

The Law of The Meepwood Cemetary Gates

Larger that Life and Takin' Care of Business!

I went back to the Meepwood Gates to check on Deputy Dawg and turn the lights back on. He was his usual self Masterfully holding down the fort. The Zombie in blue was off in a corner all sliced up and not worthly of any further attention by the Magnificent One! The other Zombie was still standing in front of the Gates. Still effectively down but standing in place unmoving. And My Law Dawg was dealing him the business end of his sword with the Zombie moaning in pain from each strike. Thats My Boy, never flinching from his duty. I stood for a while marveling at the Big Guy! He was going to Survive this one by his own merits and by a bit of help from the One who was never there. I paused for a bit to savor the moment then finally did an Ornate Arm Outstretched Fit for Royalty Sweeping Bow in his direction and headed away Unseen and Unheard for my room.

Click here for a pic of Deputy Law Dawg holding down the Fort!

The Forge

Careful, Don't burn your fingers

In my room I dropped the potions and the Meepwood Gate keys. Then I stood and blocked the door, used the room key on it to lock it and dropped the room key on the floor. When I went out the door I closed it and my room was relocked.

Inside the Forge are usually 2 Guards. On one play though I found them dead. I guess a melee and drawn them to open the doors and they were cut down. But they are usually in there and were this time too. The front doors are no good when they are inside. I went from my room to the canal under it and Rope Arrowed across, retrieved my ropes, and made my way up to the shadowed wall that is across the Canal from the Forge near the Police Station. From there when the guards are looking the other way I ran and jumped all the way across the canal and mantled up. On this jump it seems like you will miss and you actually sink kind of low before you catch the wall and mantle. But mantle you will. I went up the ladder and into the Forge from the roof and made my way to the molten metal filled vat.

I could set the Cylix on the brick edge there by leaning in and dropping it at an angle. It would set at an angle and either tip up or on its side.Tricky but I could get it there a few times without guards alerting from the normal clank. But I could not get it too melt there, it had to go all the way into the fire even if not in the Vat. So I bumped against it a few times and it went in, I burned and died and the guards alerted from my scream of agony. So I tried to back up against it and push it in. Yeah, yeah, OK I admit it....I tried to push it in with my butt. Anything is worth a try! I could, I burned my butt, I died, guards alerted, reload. I could not knock it in with a Blackjack, makes metal noise and doesn't move. Would have died from the Proximity anyway. Forget throwing it in from anywhere or any angle to any spot, I tired a lot but no go. Clank and the guards alert. Could find no dead noise spot in there. I even tossed it up the chimney hoping it would muffle the sound. Nope! Ultimately I saw no where to go so I went and got a Moss Arrow. Shot the Moss Arrow in the vat and tossed the Cylix in from a distance, no damage, no sound, no alert, but Busted from Moss use. Game Over! It dawned on me later that I never did try to knock it off the edge with a Water Arrow. Is worth a try. Don't know if the guards would alert or if the Water Arrow has the umph to knock it in anyway. Moss Arrows sure will but it takes a few. But I would assume that any residual water evidence would evaporate in an milisecond from the fireball. But I have no save to go back too since playing the last mission in this series. So I will try that later or someone else can. Then we can argue about the water evidence. HA!

[b]And What Did I Say Would Happen?<font style="background-color:white;color:white">Officer of the Law Deputy Zombie Choppin' Dawg LIVES!</font>

Prologue

I took a side trip on my first Ghost of this. There's some wild weird goings on. The Zombie carrying the Tasty Bone. The missing Cat shows up dead and can be taken to the owner in the bar. The note I read in the fish market about a guy shoving a fish up his friends tail? Had no idea that would have an ending. But when I slunk over to the fish market, inside the guy who wrote the note was dead and a Zombie was walking around in there with a Fish stuck in his moonie! That was ironic and got a real chuckle out of me. So I was still out slinking around in the white zone of no threats. Evaded everything and was seeing what I could see. Nothing could touch me, I was in command! There is a small room that is near a bridge crossing the Canal. I had unlocked that door long before the Undead Infestation and found some loot in there and a light switch to turn out the lights. A nice place to hide. So I thought I would head on in there. Nothing lurking so I crouched and went up to the door.

If I have ever had a pants filling moment in my life this was it. When I got to the door it exploded out towards me in a rain of wood splinters and through the breach came three of the meanest baddest fastest in my Face howling at the moon Undead things I have ever seen, bent on evicerating me into a pile of steaming guts on the cobblestones. A female Zombie in a white dress was second in line behind Lipless The Skeleton's cousin but she quickly jumped to head of the line and came for me full bore. If white alert is normal and yellow alert is you notice a possible unidentified threat and orange alert is identification of the threat, Red Zone Alert means it is time for action NOW! I had gone from white zone all the way to triple heart pumping adreneline surging Max Alert Red Zone in an instant. The only thing that kept me from a massive Heart Attack was in fact that adrenaline surging through my veins. It was flee or fight. Heh, like I was gonna que up a Holy Water Potion and draw an Arrow and hope I didn't miss or even que up a Flashie and toss it. I would have been dismembered, piled, and forgotten about before I could even find em in inventory. It was flee! I have never hit the stand up key, whipped the mouse, and hit the run key so fast in my whole Thief Career. I had no idea where I was going, I was just hauling it.

Man that Dead Woman in the white dress can flat sprint. I had turned into the alley that headed sort of towards the fish market while wondering which malcontent had removed the Triple Jump in Thief 2. I wanted it BAD so I could quick Hop my buns out of there! I had no plan. It felt like I was crawling along using the creep key. Was simply no way to move as fast as the adreneline was driving me to do. I could see the White female Zombies arms flashing wildly by my head in my peripheral vision. She was that close. I wondered if it was the same one I stole the purse from in the Market? Was she mad at me, could I calm her down? Maybe she liked me and just didn't know how to act and this was her way of displaying her affection. Maybe she was after my heart. But was it Love or was it Obsession? I began plucking the daisy petals mentally while my legs moved me at a seeming snails pace. She loves me, she loves me not, she loves me...it ended on not! I was doomed. She wanted my heart alright but she wanted it separated from the rest of me. Her hands were so close that I was worried she might stab me with some putrified fingernail and my flesh would disintigrate into a puddle of infected goo on the pavement at her feet and flow into the gutter. About that time I rounded the corner and saw the water over to my left. Yes, water, go go for the H2O, get in the trucking water. I hung a fast left and ran for the knee wall. When I finally reached it after what seemed like an hour of running, I hit the jump key with enough force to catipult my hair, eyes, teeth, kneecaps, toenails and everything else in between all the way to far distant planet where the Burricks fly and people duck! I was a human cannon ball making a slow arc through the air to a splashdown baptism of absolution. The water rose up for me and I plunged in deep probably throwing spray all the way into the Beer Wizards fresh brew. It gave new meaning to the term Game Immersion! I surfaced and looked back at the Obessessed One in the white dress and she stood there at the knee wall shaking her fist at me. I have met a lot of Ladies in my time but on this occasion I decided to keep my heart thank you! That is one female I simply will not deal with!

Purah,

1. Doing in Gaston the Red.

3. Getting in and out of the upper attic in the Keepers Sanctuary

Finders Keepers

No doubt about it, every single time I have played this one the beginning fight between the Thieves and Hammers is a bit different. Either side can win with varying degrees of how many are left standing. This time it was down to the wire. When they started dropping it was a lot of them in quick succession. Thought the Hammers were gonna get the win this time but it didn't happen. There was one Hammer standing with a Thief bowguard a bit away from him. The bowguard got enough arrows in him that he fell. So the Thieves won....for a short. The bowguard was back up the snow a ways and the Hammers up top saw him and were yelling. He saw them too and all of a sudden tore off to go up there and strike at them. I found him up there later near theHammer Priest, dead in his tracks. So basically that meant that nothing at all was patrolling below or on the ramp. Free rein down there for me. I got one Purse from a fallen Hammer I think and moved on up the trail.

My general path was to the Pawn Shop, up onto the low roof by the metal ladders via a Rope Arrow in the ledge snow to set the Flying Will swirling in the breeze, through the room in the warehouse there, off to get the Will, the meeting with Mercedes, to Reds Place, past the Spiders, into the Keepers Lair, through the Dining Room, through the Big Library, through the Attic, and to the South Grotto.

The Pawn Shop

I did it cuz I wanted too

I roped up and got the key and went in to get the loot. I wanted to get upstairs without setting off the Blue Fireball trap. I shot a Rope Arrow into the wood just below the upper metal rail there and the stairwell right behind the Navigators Globe. Climbed the rope and mantled over. Easy as Pie. Cleaned out the place of loot. I only took loot from under the secret bed. Nothing else!

Some General Loot Stuff outside

In My Pocket

Nothing big here, just FYI's! The Hammer Priest standing out in the snow, I was able to get the Gold off his belt with no comments. Over by the little Temple around from there by the Spider building I have always found a dead Thief in the snow who had loot on him. For the first time ever I came around from the back side and he was living. He ran out of the corner by the building where the Spiders are and over to the side of the porch where the Temple Hammer Door Guard is. He paused to look around and then ran around small Temple and tried to get past the Hammer Priest and Guard over on the snow. I ran out behind him and when he paused at the porch I snagged his loot. He then ran over and got toasted by the Priest.

Big Red's Hidy Hole

See Big Reds Door Guards, See Big Reds Door Guards on Guano!

I had always before done Gaston the Red last in the mission. Maybe because it was lower on the Objectives. This time I moved him up on my appointment list. I first went and had the conversation with Mercedes and then she went off and plowed the Hammer Gate Guard. I went for Red. I was going to go in the main door and circumvent the gas trap if possible but there is a guard standing in front of the door. He had always moved off before but not this time. Maybe it was my order of play. So I went for the hidden entrance at the statue. Didn't look promising as there is a nice lit up area down there with Reds Backdoor Bowguard watching it through the bars. Had to try! I waited for the roving Swordguards and then crouched and crept around the corner to go underneath the light there. Immediate Bust! The Archer alerted right away and came for me.

OK, sometimes the seemingly undoable will work. Maybe that Bowguard can not see me up close. So I timed the roving Swordguards again and then crouched and crept out right in front of the bars he was looking through, hugging that wall. He didn't twitch! Either he can only see things that are further than 3 feet in front of him or between takes he had scraped the cave, smoked some of the Bat Stuff and his brain went over easy. Personally I go for the Brain on Guano Theory. In fact later I made a foul up jumping on top of the chest behind him. I made big noise and he didn't twitch. Was the Guano, am sure of it! I hugged that wall all the way around past the pipes and into the hall. There I stood and ran to the safe and ducked in the shadowed corner. The Swordguards did not peep.

Click here for a hidden camera shot of The Guano Mano himself!

Part of the trick though is the Swordguards patrol. They make two trips over near the archer before the come down the hall and over by the secret entrance. I had to make my move just as they were coming from behind the Bowguard the first time. That gave me the time I needed to get slowly around the Bowguard and too the safe. Just be to the hall corner right as they get to the Bowguard the second time.

Red Red Go to Bed, Hope You Wake Up When You're Dead!

The guy is Hard Headed but he has such a Soft Heart!

I decided to drop Gaston the Red before I looted the place. That would be one less roving AI to worry about while I was looting. So I went in his room and waited in the dark corner behind the door. He came to peek in his safe and I went up behind him and Clobbered him with the Blackjack. Nothing said How I had to do him in. But.....and a BIG BUT.............I had forgotten how Hard his head is. He did not go down, only winced and came for me. I tried a few times clobbering him til he dropped. Was probably close but he always was able to turn around and get one sword swing into me. Busted from Damage. So I just reloaded. I had no Gas Arrow, don't remember if there was one in the Pawn Shop. I didn't really want to go back there anyway after all the good work I had done. I could not get in Reds Armory Either. Had no Skeleton Key because I could not by it at loadout. So I decided to see what I could do. I needed a Broadhead Arrow, so I went out and took the one off the Guano Secret Door Guard. It actually gave me 3. So I went back in and waited for Red. When the door opened and he was heading for his safe I drew the Bow all the way to zoom in and put one right through his heart. All it took was one Broadhead and he went down in agony. And the roving Swordguards outside went completely alert from the sound. I could hear them right though the door without leaning in too it.

Proper Timing is a good thing, it is. I had to wait until the roving Swordguards were well away from Reds bedroom to do the deed. And to figure than out I had to open the door and listen for quite a while to figure out when that was. When I had it, I reloaded and waited waited for the proper moment. Red came in to look in his safe, door closing behind him. Arrow through The Soft Spot and I immediately went to the door and leaned in for a listen to be sure. Nothing! Clean and Green! I dumped Dead Dead Red Red behind his Bed Bed and looted his room. Nothing was peeping when I opened his bedroom door to leave.

Getting Reds Goods

The Ole Dash and Grab Routine!

Not too hard but it took a few trips in and out to get it. Lots of loot is on the table in the main room and there are some coins too. A bit harder to pick those up fast. Other loot is in chests and laying around. Not much out there in the form of shadow to work from. The only decent shadow is in the corner by the painting that Red used to stop and Admire while he was still among us. But it is not black shadow. Just a touch of light on the Gem. But it was enough to get a comment when the Swordguards went by. So I worked from two spots, the corner behind the safe, and the corner behind the main Doorguard. I had to get right behind the main Doorguard too because the roving Swordguards come right by there. So I would dash out and snag some loot and back to a shadow. Did not stay out long because I wanted plenty of time to ease back into shadow. When I finally got it all it was time to leave.

In One Way and Out The Other!

Hey Look.......it's Guano Guard #2!

I thought I would try the Main door to see what I could see. I timed the Swordguards and went over and hit the switch to open the main gate. Then I crouched and slid out left and hugged the wall. I went right in front of this guard there and to my surprise, he was on Guano also. He never even twitched! And I was fully lit up right in front of him for a bit too. I made it to the shadow of the steps without any trouble. Personally I think the main door guard was dead. I surmise that when he inhaled and expired, the Guano caused Rigor Mortis to set in so fast that he was just standing rigid in place. But I honestly didn't go push him to find out!

I do not know if the gate having been open disables the gas trap there at the short steps, I never tried it too see. I just used NightWalker's slide by routine from the Museum Vault in Murkbell and went right by the wire without setting off the gas trap. Worked every time. Then I slowly crept up the stairs towards the entrance/exit door and set foot on the landing. There had been a guard outside the door there but no sooner had I set foot on the landing, he moved off. Wondering what was up I picked the door and went out to the corner and leaned out. He was up talking to another Thiefguard off in front of the Statue. Then they went on patrol and I closed the statue entrance and made my way back to Mercedes and Grindles. Was fortunate at Reds main door. Did not know I would be able to get out the main door because of the guard there and thought I might have to go back and work my way by Guano guard #1.

Yes Lytha, Spiders Do See with Their Butts!

Just a scant few inches to Shadow!

I got inside Grindles the usual way with a Rope Arrow up to the beam. I did not get on the ledge there by going around near the Hammer Guard by the light switch. Bright over there and have made a clank going over the rail getting a comment even with the light out. I shot a rope into the snow of the ledge by the gate and near the right corner. I climbed up and was able to mantle/jump into the corner there. Then took the snow rope and via the other rope went in the window.

A bunch of people including myself have commented on how Spiders seem to see. But on one of Lythas escapades she decided to tell it like it is. Hence, Spiders see with their Butts! I got a laugh out of it and just had to use it here. I am a Thief however so will not apolgize for Plagiarism! HA!

The Spiders here have been gone over many times so I won't do a lot of detail on the moves I have seen them in different areas and don't know for sure why they are where they are. Maybe the fights at the beginning of the mission. Who knows for sure. The Spider at the Powder Keg I have seen on both sides of the keg. I have Ghosted him in both places. The other Spider I have seen at the far end of the joining hall that has machinery, out of the hall in the bright room down there, and way down on the far side of the powder key. They together have been in various combinations of places. You just have to figure out how to Ghost them depending on how the game tosses them at you. Just remember, They See With Their Butts and Lytha is completely responsible for the word usage!

I had to Supreme them which I had never done. The first Spider was in the hall on my side of the Powder Keg. The other Spider was way over there in the bright room and he was no good going by. Basically I got by the first Spider by walking right by his head and too the corner near the Powder Keg. Then edged out towards the keg a shade. Then I inched towards the machinery wall across the hall until the far Spiders legs and a touch of body was in my view. From there I was scant inches, one baby step, from shadow if I moved towards the machinery wall. Took a bit to get set up right but I crouched and just gave the run key a tap and release and took that step right across into the Shadow. Was tricky because I was in light already when I took the step and of course bright fast movement can be noticed and commented on. But I did it fast enough that I moved and stopped before the Spiders could alert.

Mercedes Opens the Hatch

There's a Cannibal in the Basement!

I could not get in the Basement to steal Mr Kidneys Beans Blade on Supreme. I did not have the Skeleton Key and I could not get throuth the gate with the moving Molten Metal Vat without a comment from below. Once somehow I got the gate there to stay open after the Vat returned but the Flesh Eater downstairs was alert and I could not duplicate it. No idea if it was something I did or a glitch.

So I went and let Mercedes in and she opened the Hatch for me. She did not alert you know who. I have never had her alert him while Ghosting. But from other types of play, it seems if I get a comment out of him or alert him before I let Mercedes in, when Mercedes does come in he might come up top.

I went on down the Hatch!

Playin' Hide 'n Seek with The Keepers!

A Diary of The Invisible Man's Personal Tour through Darkwatch!

If they see ya they see ya, if they hear ya they see ya, if they bump ya they see ya, but you can steal the Jeweled Daggers right out of there hands if they don't! Guess their hands don't see so well. So I hid in a dark corner and ripped off everything that passed including a key from the Walkin Talkin Little Kid who was mumbling something about the Fallen Rise Again. Maybe it was just Kid Talk but I was tempted to Slay something to see if that was true! I cleaned out around the entrance and went for the Biggest Dining Room in World History. I went to the beams above and down on the left side of the Fireplace. All ropes retrieved.

I was not able to get all the plates at the Fireplace. Touchy area! Could not get them all using ropes. I would get mostly the Lady looking around and then they would vanish. Had the most luck creeping in from the fireplace side near the Male Keeper. So I settled for what I had including another Dagger and went on over and cleaned out the Study below. An odd thing happened at the Study. Was in a corner waiting for a Keeper to move in and out of there so I could go in. He went in but never came out. I waited for a while and then went to check and he was not in there. Maybe he teleported and was somewhere else and coming back this way. But I Swear to God that I did not flip ANY Teleportation Switch!

Next I went for the Big Library!

Garrett, If it's you..........Don't Hurt Me!

Why aren't there Bird Nests at the top of those Ladders!

This Library is something else, just huge. And some of those Ladders are way higher than the cheaps seats at the stadium. I expected to find some pigeons nesting up there or something. But I didn't see any.

There were two Keepers patroling in there and a small amount of loot. The loot is sort of cetral but on the right side at a sitting area and a rteal tall ladder I wanted the loot. When I Ghosted it before it was mostly easy. When entering I went right and into the dark corner. Then I mossed up the floor and when there was an opening in the Keeprs patrol I ran in, grabbed the loot and ran out. Running all the way! But Supreme Ghosting it I could not use moss. And that is one noisey floor there until you are on the area rug. I attempted sort of the same thing but edged up on the shadow at the tall bookcase column. I got close but no cigar. I could not run it flat out because of the floor. And they alert pretty far away When they alert one of them says, "Garrett, if it's you.......don't hurt me!" I was sorely tempted and got a real kick out of that.

I needed an edge to get in there and the tall ladder was it. I was able to wait for the Keepers to move away a bit and made it too the ladder and climbed up the back side of it. I climbed way up there. Then slid around to the front. Found I could go down about to where you can see what looks like one ladder joining another. That was the Sweet Spot, any lower and they would alert if they we close by. These are another set of randon patrolling AI it seems and reloading did not help. It was near impossible to time them and when they both went behind one of those tall bookcase columns one would come around it and the other would turn and go out the same way he came. No way to tell which one was which. Running down the ladder was slow and jumping off those angled ladders was different than one that is straight up and down. But I saw a break and went for it, jumped off near the bottom, ran and got the loot, ran back and tried to get around the ladder and to the tiled floor. Is a tight space there and I had Touch Ladders On. Arrgggg!

Yeah, I hooked on the ladder and could not get off in time to get out with no alerts. So I went into Options and turned Touch Ladders Off. I did the same as above when the Keepers were moving away and went right around the ladder this time and crouched and crept fast across the tile and made it back into the dark corner that is to the right as you enter. Easy getting out from there.

I was in there quite a while getting it down. And there is no set way of when to go for the loot from that ladder because of the randomness. I just had to wait for them both to be moving away or one moving away and the other at the back of the Library and go for it.

Then I went for the Sitting Room!

Miss Pigtail of The Jeweled Sword!

I don't care what she says! I'm gonna go play in the attic!

I had some real cons about this room in general before I even got there. Is real bright and the floor is the usual non stealthy tile. And the fireplace adds to the light. There are 4 AI in there. Three over in the sitting area consisting of a female who can see the entrance, a male with his back mostly to the entrance, and another male sitting with also a view of the entrance. There is one female Keeper right inside the entrance standing guard but pivoting in place. I could not creep in there at all without getting a comment from the sitting area. But I could creep in on the far left side hugging the wall when the female Keeper at the entrance was turned around. Hmm?

Way back when I was Ghosting this mission I could get in and out by mossing and shutting off the light. The light switch is across the room and I could hit it with a Moss Arrow or Gas Arrow. And then run out on the moss and snag things. However when the light goes out, the female in the sitting area looks around and then goes over and turns the light back on. Wasn't sure how to call that, usually they vanish at the slightest hint. Maybe she is programmed to do that when the light goes out. But being that I am not writing THAT Ghost Report, it doesn't matter. I was also able to get the loot on the high shelf by going up on the upper short balcony and shooting it off with a Moss Arrow. It kicked the thing all the way over to a mossed area of the entrance and was easy to get. Then, being that I had the key from the guy in the sitting area, I went all the way back to the Pawn Shop and in the back way. Can turn off the light in the Sitting Room easy from there even though it gets turned back on quickly. I pretty near cleaned out the room if not completely.

But not this time in Supreme Ghost. I could get to nothing at all out in the room. Looking at Objectives I saw I was way off of the loot total needed and that sitting area would have helped. Something had to give or I was not going to get the Loot Objective checked off. There was not that much loot left anywhere I knew of including the South Grotto. But the attic entrance was above me and there was a Boatload of loot in there. So I decided to go play in the attic. Little did I know...Oh little did I know what that little path would lead me too.

Standing outside the entrance I watched the female guard. She has a Jeweled Sword in her hand and a nice braided Pigtail. Just past her and to the left is the ladder that goes up to the secret book to open the attic access. So I watched her. After toying with her for a while I began calling her Miss Pigtail of The Jeweled Sword. Miss Pigtail would look towards the entrance for quite a while and then turn and look away for quite a while. She would turn around sometimes to her left and sometimes right but when facing away she mostly turned around to her right which was away from the ladder side. I was really liking that because I knew I could creep over there. I liked it so much that I crept up, leaned in and stole her Sword, and renamed her Miss Pigtail Minus the Jeweled Sword!

OK, I was going to dance with her without her even knowing. So when she turned away I CCCed around the left side hugging the bookcase wall and got just shy of even with her. Then she turned to her right facing back towards the entrance. Noticed then that when she turns she moves a step in the direction she will be looking. That was also helpful. I was good to move and a few quick creeping steps later I hit the side of the ladder. Yes, I had turned back on Touch Ladders! I hooked the ladder and walked all the way to the top of it. Had to carefully adjust a few times using a slide key because of the small bookcase ledges but I went right up otherwise. And I had to walk up and I had to go up the side of the ladder or I would get a comment from the guy sitting on the couch across the room. When I passed the top of the lower bookcase I was also out of view of Miss Pigtail eyes.

Toys in the Attic!

Getting in the attic turned out not to be so hard as I would have thought. I used the secret book to move the painting. Actually I could jump from up there all the way into the attic opening making negligible sound. But the guy on the couch would comment when I went through the air. I also had to jump when Miss Pigtail was looking into the room or she might comment. I could not jump to the middle of the ledge just outside the attic entrance. Big sound and alerts. But I could climb down the ladder a bit and jump to the very right side of that ledge with no sound and no comments. I could also jump to the gap between the ledge and the wall but I went for the very right side of the ledge. Getting in the attic from there was easy. Just backed up to the edge of the ledge away from the opening and hopped in with not a sound. All I needed up there was the loot and that 1000 sure helped. Didn't get me quite to the total but I knew I could make it now. I took nothing else. There was nothing I needed or could use so I left the Toys where they were.

Can I get out of the Attic?

I went back out the attic entrance, slowly dropped off to the ledge and used the secret book to move the picture back over the opening. Well...........I could not just jump back to the ladder because I would land too low and get a comment from the guy on the couch. So I tried a series of Soft Touch Rope Arrows into the bookcase. They were close together and I could get on the first one by walk jumping to it. I dropped a bit but no one noticed. Then without using any movement keys I jumped from rope to rope removing them as I went. And I got on the ladder too. Creeping back down to the Sweet Spot was tricky. I had to saty on the edge of the ladder and I had to make those carefull adjustments using the slide key or I would get stuck on those small bookcase ledges. If I just pushed myself over one, a comment from the guy on the couch. Everything had to be slow and easy. The Sweet Spot for Miss Pigtail was the top Mutton Bar of the lower bookcase at the ladder. In case you don't know what a Mutton Bar is, the false glass door on that bookcase has bars running across it. Those are Mutton Bars.

Now I watched Miss Pigtail and when she was facing the door I slowly went on down, got on the floor, and moved up the edge of the bookcase to just shy over even with her. It was about here that the Whims of Femininity started taking the left fork in the road instead of the Right one. The once smooth enjoyable dance went irratic. She wanted to lead but I wasn't following. Every single time she turned, it was towards the bookcase and me. Busted Busted Busted! I tired for quite a while and she never turned the right way. I went to the store and came back just to see, she was still turning the wrong way every time. I was just fed up enough with her that I was frantically looking around for an Ink Well to dip her Pigtail into.

So I went back to the ledge and tried to drop through the space between the ledge and the bookcase wall. You sink down there a bit and can wiggle yourself with movement keys and drop right towards the corner behind her when she is looking away. Basically I could hit the floor with no damage and bascially no sound But....and a BIG but....every single time I would hit the edge of the lower bookcase ledge and it would kick me out onto the floor with a CLOP! And here came Miss Pigtail wanting to play rough. I tried dropping through there looking in every direction and every angle I could think of. No Help! OK, since Miss Pigtail wasn't playing nice, I just wouldn't play with her N E More! I reloaded where I was back in the attic entrance.

From there I leaned out and closed the picture back over the attic entrance sealing me inside. When it closes you can see right through it. I walked right up to it and looked down at Miss Pigtail.....and just as I looked she turned the right way. If I had been down there on the floor I could have smoked right by her. Time for a female ribbing. She gave me everything I wanted when I no longer wanted it. HAHAHA Typical Female! Don't Slay me guys, I just had to do it!

She can be beaten, I am convinced of it now. But she will take some time and some doing! My mind was already on other avenues for thrills and off I went!

Back in the Attic Again!

The Nightshade Gem?

So I went in the attic and to the metal railing over the bridge to the Interpreter Kids Tower. Could I get down there? I could not jump straight on the railing, there was no room. But there was a crate close by and I picked it up and dropped it by the railing. Jumping on the crate I was able to walk off of it onto the top of the railing. But the crate had to go back where it came from. So I crept down to the end of the railing and walked off into the attic until on foot dropped off. Then leaning forward I was able to drop the crate P D close to the same position it was in. I had to look more down than out when I dropped it or the Keeper guard in the tunnel below would comment.

Looking down at the bridge wasn't looking promising. Long drop and hit points would probably vanish when I landed. Had to try. I walked off the railing until my one foot dropped off, then I dropped. I landed in the gap between the end of the bridge railing and the wall totally creaming my hit points. Few Left. And the Keeper guard went into full alert and came for me. So I tried again attempting to land on the railing below. I made it with some noise and only a comment from the Keeper guard but again lost a bunch of hit points. So I tried to shoot a Rope Arrow into the top of the bookcase below while on the attic railing. Got the rope there but it was over a bit from me. And I just could not move far enough over that way to catch it, landed on the small ledge there, made noise, lost health points, and alerted the Keeper guard. Hmm, well I though once while I was down there with nothing but a comment that I would at least scope out the Night shade Gem and how I would get out. And it hit me just like the last mission. I had no Objective to get the Nightshade. And there was not even a chest with it in the Interpreters Tower. It was not in the mission that I know of.

Restart to check, yep, Tip was in the store, can't get anything from the store and this Supreme Thief does not even go to the store in case he might be identified. Same as the Drahng Objective and Wizard in Murkbell, just bring the Tip up in inventory and you get the Objective without even reading it and the Nightshade chest appears. Well OK! Doesn't seem to have loot value anyway.

But in case you want to try Supreme Ghosting the area anyway, I was able to get by the Keeper guard in the tunnel there by a quick dash through the light and stopping in the shadow. I could not creep around the light or he would comment. However, when I went up to take his jeweled blade he alerted. That tells me he was already alert and I was Busted. But maybe it can be done. And also Old Man came up with a way of getting on the bridge from below using Rope Arrows in the bookcases. So if you are interested check in with Old Man. Getting out is easy. Just hop up on the rail, edge forward til a foot drops off, and jump onto one of the ladders below. Simple.

But how was I going to get down that way from the attic with no alerts and lose no hit points? Was I going to have to go and dance with Miss Pigtail until she submitted? Nope! I stood on that attic rail and looked around to see what I could see. And I saw something alright. It was there all the time! If I'm not insane I must be a Thrill Seeking Fun Lover!

Yes, the Ladder up to the nosebleed section wayyyyy over there and it was speaking too me. And when I heard it I had visions of a Supreme Ghost Challenge issued to me by Peter Smith. The Art of Thievery FM and being way way up in the beams over the main staircase and having to jump off to a rope way down there. I made many jokes about the time I had to think about things while falling through the air to that rope. And that jump had had some falling arc to catch the rope. For certain in both of these missions I was up where the air is mighty thin. I honestly don't know whether the area in Art of Thievery is further from the floor than this Attic railing in the Library. I never took the time to drop a tape measure to the floor to check. As far as height goes though they both for sure are in the running for the Prize though maybe the Library has it. No doubt if I fell I could grow and surpass a ZZ Top length beard before I hit the floor. But if the jump in Art of Thievery had some falling arc to catch the rope down below, this jump from the attic railing to that ladder way over there, if it could even be made, was going to have............Orbital Trajectory!

I spent some time at NASA'a website gathering info and trying to decide if I would have to turn in the air and shoot Fire Arrows behind me to get enough boost to reach the ladder. I calculated the falling arc it would take to clear the bridge below and be dead on target for the ladder. I calculated the effect of wind resistance on my Trajectory. I thought about safety measures and toyed with the idea of strapping Bungee Cords to my ankles just in case but then decided against it cuz only wimps jump with a safety net below them, not Thrill Seekers!. It was do or die. If I did not make the ladder I was either going to Lip Smack the tile floor so fast that my gums and toenails would become instantly intimate, or would go skipping across the planets atmosphere having my clothes burnt off on re-entry and end up hanging by my taters in a fork in a tree in Baffords Courtyard. Yeah, I just could not resist it.

Fun Lover

Might as well Jump, Go ahead and Jump!

From the perspective of looking into the Library I crept over to the far left hand side of the railing and against the wall. Then I crept forward to drop a foot off. I had to get my foot dropped off the railing for two reasons. 1: I had to get my head on the outside of the ceiling over the railing. I could not jump with my head that close to the ceiling or I would hit it and go nowhere or possibly fall. 2: If I jumped from that metal railing without having a foot off I would make a clank on the jump and the Keeper guard below would comment or even alert. There is a sweet spot when getting a foot off the railing. If you go to far you will not get enough push off the railing and end up kissing the floor, not enough off and you will clank when you jump. When your foot does drop off though you are effectively out of the attic. Once in place I stood up and was hanging 10 over the Library from the railing with no ceiling to worry about. The Ladder was centered in my view. Two songs went through my head. Fun Lover by Ted Nugent and Jump by Van Halen.

Hitting the Run key and Jump key almost simultaneously, this Fun Lover went ahead and Jumped!

Time Goes By

Excursions of a Bored Mind!

Well I had forgotten to wear any goggles so I was squinting in the wind with tears streaming back from my eyes and my hair was whipping in the wind behind me. Split ends were on my mind. I quickly reached terminal velocity which was a heady sensation and once the sensation had faded I had nothing to do but wait. So I decided to find myself and set off on a Trek to the High Himalayas of Tibet wearing nothing but Old Sack Cloth and New Silk Boxer Shorts. I froze and climbed for weeks through the Snow up to the tallest peek I could find above the clouds searching for the Wise Sage of Self Deliverance. A sudden massive avalanche ripped the snow cap out from underneath me and I went sliding seventy miles per hour down a Glacier with masses of snow tumbling and swirling all around me. Just when I thought I would be buried alive under eighty-three feet six and a half inches of snow, the Glacier sent me shooting off the side of the mountain and I landed nose down for a neck deep face plant in the snow on a narrow ledge with a sheer ice wall behind me and nothing but clouds below me obscuring the earth. Suddenly the Grey Headed Wise Old Sage appeared way up on an ice ridge wearing a Tattered Robe, Gold Rolex, and Birkenstocks.

He said, "My Son, all is illusion! To know yourself you must realize this. If you will but jump you will see that it is not you who are falling but that the earth is moving up to meet you."

I yelled up at him sarcastically, "Heh, and just how fast will the earth below be moving up to meet me there Sage Dude?"

He replied ignominiously, "You may deny that the earth is moving up to meet you, you may think with all your mind that the earth is not moving up to meet you, you may even believe with all your heart that the earth is not moving up to meet you, you might lie to yourself and be convinced that the earth is not moving up to meet you, you may even take Morphine and could care less if the earth is moving up to meet you, but the truth is that the earth will move up to meet you at the same speed you think you are falling to meet it. This is the destiny you must fall to meet. This is the Reality of The Illusion!"

I screamed at him, "ARE YOU NUTS? Isn't there another way out of here?"

He said, "Nope, Might as well Jump!"

I jumped!

And I truely saw that all was illusion. As I screamed through the atmosphere and passed though the clouds below I suddenly shook off my doldrums, regained myself and realized I was back in The Library catching some wild air just passing the Interpreters Bridge on my Orbital Arc for the ladder. All Systems Green! I read a Jack L. Chalker Sci Fic series and went hiking in Big Bend. While in Big Bend I waded across the Rio Bravo to the Mexico side so I would know personally what it was like to be a Wet Back! But no one would give me a job over there so I waded back! Then I went to bed and when I awoke I saw this Long ZZ Top Beard hanging from my chin. Musta been a real long sleep! I kept stepping on the beard and falling on my face when I tried to walk so I got a piece of firewood and rolled that beard up on it and tied it off in a nice neat formation under my chin. Had to walk stooped over a bit but it was better than falling down.

When I went to the comp I was into re-entry with the ladder still dead in front of me. Not long now! I decided to Shave! So I filled my sink with hot water, pulled out my Dop Kit, lathered up my face with thick shaving cream and started up my electric razor! It was an exhilerating experience, like whipping up cake batter on your face. I toweled the suds off and dropped the pile of wet beard hair on the floor where my cat pounced joyfully on top of it like it was a new string toy and scurried off with it like she was getting away with something bigtime. I went back to the comp to see how I was doing.

Seconds to go and............The Eagle has Landed!....................Dead Stick on the Ladder in Black Shadow with No Damage and No Sound! And unbelievable High on Thief itself rush once again.

I did it a LOT of times. Only once was I headed for the floor and reloaded well before I hit. The reason was that I had moved myself too far off the railing and didn't have enough push off. I clanked a couple of times and the Keeper below me commented but I still got to the ladder. Once my aim was off and thought I was going to miss. But I caught the side of the ladder and was safe. This jump is easy. All you need to do is get your foot to drop off the rail above and give it another slight push forward. That is pretty well the Sweet Spot to make no clank when you jump. When you jump the falling arc will just drop you right to the ladder. Piece of cake!

Getting from the ladder and out to the entry steps of the Library is no trouble so I won't even go into it much. You can do it from the hight ladder you landed on or jump to the shorter one on the same wall as the entrance. But if you decided to jump to that shorter ladder, get way high up the tall one and slide around to the side of it before you jump. Jumps are not exactly the same on these angles ladders. And when you do jump to the short ladder, you will hit about the bottom rung on it and be fully lit up. I thought I was going in but made that jump to the other ladder every time.

To the End Game

The excitment is all behind me

There was no trouble for me getting to the South Grotto and in there. After getting the loot in the grotto I climbed out and did not go across the metal bridge. I ran down and jumped across the small chasm over to the other side by the scafolding. Using the Amulet I opened and went inside the doors and locked them back behind me. I forgot to get the Masks on the Grotto walls and could go back by save to get them and up my loot a bit. But I haven't yet. The Gemstone Eyes in there are mine and when I got the loot from the chest in there, my Loot Total Objective was complete. Of course when moving around in there, the Welcomes Zone light up the torches and the Succubus appears in her Spell Bound Prison. She is not aware of anything, I went all around her and she turns in place seemingly at random.

Here is a screenie of her with her back to me!

I read the Prophecy.....Game Over!

Prologue

I think I have said enough above! These three Missions together may be my longest Report to date. I never have posted a Report on a mission pack before! But also I have not Ghosted anything in quite a while so thought I would do the..........Usual!

So I will end with this:

Purah and Team, my thanks again for a great mission pack. It has given me thrills, chills, and lots of personal fun. I hope there will be yet another sequel!

Now would someone please tell me where the Gemstone goes to when the doors are sealed in The Gleaming Facet Gem Shop?

Just Sneakin' Through!

Thanks, Sneak! This was special to wake up to this morning. I ran out of coffee a long while ago but somehow couldn't get a pause long enough for a refill until I'd finished reading the entire report. Love your style too. Good Stuff(tm).

A point of credit. It was Nightwalker who first noticed the gap on the left side of the lower ultra violet beam in the museum. Thanks, Nightwalker!

Mission: Thief II "Ambush!"

Perfect Supreme Ghost Mode: Success (read 'em and weep!)

Loot: 592 of 592

Pockets: 1 (hehe)

Locks: 2

Time: 32 minutes

I make no apologies for my lack of Sneak Entertainment Value here.

I had Supreme Ghosted this mission already but I really, really wanted to see if I could get Benny's purse and make it Perfect. I edited my user.cfg to start so I had nothing to buy anything at the loadout screen and there was no purse with my previous loot in my hiding place.

A quick sidetrip northeast of the market to snag Benny's purse before heading off home. Down from the boardwalk to shadow beside the ladder just south of the Guard Post. She begins her sales pitch. CCC over to the wall of the Cafe building just out of her sight. Gotta be most stealthy or the Guard Post guys to the north will comment. When she heads for the Cafe, wait until she is off the bridge and angles away, rush over behind Benny, grab his purse, and continue on past her to the northwest side of the Market. She has her back to you walking away for plenty of time before she takes up her position in the Cafe facing the bridge. I had to crouch-run while on the bridge or he would hear me. Only a couple of steps, though. That's plenty enough to reach in and grab the purse.

A pleasant surprise starting the mission this way. No need to sneak across the south side of the market until later heading back over to the Shalebridge Gate. It opens up the entire west side of the town quickly.

I used a soft Rope Arrow into the balcony at my apartment but I suspect the nearby box(es) could be used too. Plus I left the area along the west side of the map and could have replaced the box(es) easily.

The rest is all just good solid stealth. The only other tough spot is the Shalebridge Road access. From above I dropped an Orb onto the northmost beam and when the three patrols are away slide through the opening onto the beam, retrieve the Orb, and slide down off the beam and quickly into the doorway shadow. Then the Orb again to time the patrols and out north and right around the corner. More of the same in pieces between patrols through to the Shalebridge Gate. There's also a sentry pivoting through west of Mosley's place that I had to include with the timing for the patrols.

I was taken a bit aback at the gate when I realized I would have to return the Shalebridge Gate key to my place. The logic puzzle of relocking the gate after passing through it and also returning the key was solved by Sneak's lock while blocking the door technique described in his Calendra's Legacy post earlier in this thread. I was finally resolved to sneak all the way back through town to my place and back here to the gate again when I tried dropping the key on the ground just to see if the objective unchecked. Yes, so the key cannot be returned. I was the only one who'd know it was missing anyway. On through the gate and relock it before the mission ends.

Congrats Old Man,

I think you are right up on top of the Firsts list with Perfect Supreme Ghosts.  The only other one Perfected that I know of was Assassins which both Peter and I both did. If there are more, someone please say which they are.

And ooops, I did not know you got the info from Nightwalker, but I got it from a post of yours a long while back. So I shall make an edit above to give credit where it is due.

An edit: OK Old Man, the edit is made above. That for queing me in!

Just Sneakin' Through!

Mission: Thief II "Eavesdropping"

Perfect Supreme Ghost Mode: Incomplete

Loot: 1,894 of 2,119

Time: 1 hour 29 seconds

Pockets: 0 of 4

Locks: 1

Secrets: 0 of 1

Not much to say here. You could be sandbagged with the random deposit key placement. The pulpit looks like it would be difficult to return the key to after the conversation unless it could be originally picked up without triggering the conversation. Fairly easy to trot in and snag the loot at the pulpit while they're gabbing though. So, probably best to do the eavesdropping objective first thing so you can restart if the key is badly selected.

A perfect example of an explicit objective bust. Sure, the key can be replaced but not without at least a level one alert. In my case, the key was in the west tower and fairly easily replaced although the addition of the lower workshop staff to the patrols increased the level of difficulty getting to and from the west tower. No way to avoid this since they had to be passed to make an image of the deposit key.

Still haven't figured a way to get into the upper workshop without comment from the servant inside on the lockpick sounds. That's were all the missing 125 loot and the secret is.

Just a note that two of the three pockets to be picked are on corpses so they wouldn't count anyway.

Sneak.....I tip the cloak to you.  This is a mere game, recreation for you, yet, you make it seem like art.

Now, tell me this, if I follow these simple guide lines, I too can do it just like you?  Ha.

BA,

Thanks for the Tip! HA!

Yes,

Ghosting for certain is recreational entertainment for me. And some of the best too. I do try to show that in my reports. I actually do have a real life though ya know!

But I will concede to ya that it is also an Art Form. I kinda like that!

The Art of Ghosting!

Never thought of us Ghosters as Artists!

And if I ever break the Art, I will for sure give ya a call! HA!

Following the guide lines can you do it just like me? Foreshame BA. Do it your way! But ya still have to follow the guide lines. Or you could argue about them, ha! I hear thats an Art Form too!

Just Sneakin' Through!

Ha Sneak, do it like you? I think not. No one does it like you. Hahaha.   I shall remain BA, and do it my way. Pfft.

*hears Frank playing in the background*

But of course, tis an art form, and you have done it well. And the argueing? You know what they say about artist's and their temperments. HA. Just like looking at an abstract painting, no one see's it the same way, hhhmmm. Interesting analogy.

I am staying out of it.

If you break it, Ha. I'll be around somewhere.

Man...That took some reading.

Fantastic work there Sneak, and a rollicking write up to boot. It's close to 3am over here (it's actually 3:37am now as I have had some problems posting and had to copy my reply to notepad  )in the Insomniacs District, and I had to reboot half way as my 'puter froze up, but I just about made it in the end.

Jeez...I wish I never opened up DromEd. Atleast then I would have some time to do a little more playing - and even some ghosting of my own!

<font size="1">Then again, I would probably spend more time reading the forums and posting more tripe.</FONT SIZE>

Try one Gumdrop, it doesn't have to be a big mission.

And who knows what ideas it might give you!

You have hold of a real twister of a mission to Supreme there. But once you are done it will be some satisfaying I think!

Broken Arts,

Well I am impressed. Can't wait to see what you play!

Just to put it clear. I'm not trying to supreme ghost. I would not have the patience for that at this time. I'm just going for "perfection" within the scope of the requierments set forth by the mission. So in every sence I'm not ghosting the mission like a lot of people play. I've only been thiefing for about 13 months, so in a lot of ways I'm still a bit of a noob. However a lot of the finer points of the game have been comming to me in the last 3-4 months, thus allowing me a good chance of success in my current quest through Lord Bradford's crib. Actually beta testing the first two parts of A Keeper Of The Prophecies has taught me a lot. Attacking a mission from every possible angle and trying to break it makes you come up with some creative ideas.

I'm about to enter Bradford's elemental room. I figure getting the sword will be easier then trying to find all the secrets I have yet to find...I think I still need 7.

Oooh yes

I am gonna give it a shot, and yes Supreme Ghost, "A Brawl in the Tombs"  So far a fun one. My kinda FM, lots of undead.

There is one little scene, that was absolutely a kick, you have to obtain the sword, (and yes I am playing on expert) when you get that sword, a chain reaction, certain events transpire. Love watching it. Will write a full report when I am done.

That was a supreme effort, Sneak. Good work, and I enjoyed reading your report.  It's been a while since I beta tested Calendra's legacy. I'll have to try the released version one of these days.

Skyfoxx,

OK I gotcha! Still, Art of Thievery is a great mission so I bet you are having a fun time of it. RichC knocked one out of the ballpark when he built that one. A real fine mission!

BA,

The Supreme Ghoster! Go get 'em. Lookin forward to your write up!

Peter Smith,

Thanks! I had a real fun time with that one. Took a while to play too. I bet Beta Testing CL was something else. So much going on in places and so many angles to check into.

Is definately a Classic Mission. Purah outdid himself. And the team as well.

Are you gonna play one? Twisting Peters arm!

Just Sneakin' Through!

Probably, but I can't even think about it until the middle of next week. Any suggestions (other than Art or CL)?

Just about done. Got the sword. Used broadheads to take out the lights. Saved my inviso potions. Heh heh. I had to shoot some arrows...I hate to go through a mission and not shoot some of my toys.

Have 6440 in loot but I need to find about 6 more secrets. That will be the toughest part of the mission.

I really like the two rooms dealing with the sword. They were cool. That was a fun swim. Look up...OK now how do I do this so's I don't drown....Ah yes, there it is. Tally Ho 'ol cap, there now, off you go!

I think when I got all my stuff done and exit the door, I'm gonna save the game. I'll then creep down Burrick lane for the offical completion of the mission. I'm then gonna reload the game, turn around, go back inside and knock everybody out!

A treat for my blackjack who has felt so left out.
