The Black Parade - Mission 9: Arcane Sanctum This
is a very nice breakup between the dark, ghoulish missions that come before
and after. Not one, but two castles to rob on a sunset evening filled with fireworks.
A masterfully crafted rampart structure with lots of angry mages. What could
possible go wrong? Perhaps the fact that these wizards are not interested in
helping a branded thief, so you take matters into your own hands. Do not miss
this classic. Initially,
I just had to reach mage Iarodo and try to convince him to go along with my
plans. For now, I couldn’t hurt anyone or steal anything. No
issues until I talked to Iarodo and the objectives changed. The guard captain
and his henchmen came up to the floor below within 10 seconds or so. There
were five pieces of loot on that floor I needed to get before they arrived.
There was not time to run down the stairs, so instead I preplaced a rope
above the archway to the south (left image below). Leaping over the railing,
it was easy to catch hold of the rope and save precious seconds. I grabbed
all the loot, then headed back upstairs. There was a grate up there I could
use to drop back down in the central staircase, behind all the guards. I
didn’t want to take the guard captain’s key, as this required dropping it back
along his route. Besides, there was another copy of the key in a more
convenient location. The problem was, the door at the base of the stairs got
locked when the guards arrived. In order to prevent this, I blocked it with
the strength potion from the top of the central tower (right image below).
This actually prevented the door from locking at all, plus the potion was
easy to return.
The
rest of the old castle was no problem to Supreme. There were few stationary
guards, which are always the most difficult to deal with, and most rooms had
dark spots, or some alternate way around. The area surrounding the shrine
entrance was the trickiest, with at least three patrolling guards close by. I
relocked the gate and returned all keys afterwards, before heading into the
small castle. This
place was about the same level of difficulty as the previous one. Some areas
of tight patrols, but nothing that was considered tense. Had to skip another
candlestick in here for Supreme, due to it being lit. I had already skipped
two before. Left via the side door and headed back to the start. Statistics: Time:

Skipped a
silver candlestick worth 25 on a table in the northern parts of the canal for
Supreme. It was lit and removing light sources isn’t allowed for that mode. -
Similarly, I
skipped another such lit candlestick in the meditation room library in the
old castle for Supreme. -
Skipped a third
candlestick, a gold one this time, in the head butler’s chambers in the small
castle for Supreme. |
